Lori Billson has joined Aliki Gladwin and Associates Inc., the Vancouver-based interior design firm, as its newest senior team member. Prior to this appointment, Billson was interior design director and a shareholder at Omicron Canada. She has more than 25 years of corporate design experience, specializing in brand application to office environments.
Education
Sybil Seitzinger has been appointed executive director of the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS), succeeding Tom Pederson, whose term is ending after six years. Seitzinger has also been appointed a professor in the University of Victoria School of Environmental Studies. Seitzinger joins PICS from her position as executive director of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme based in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to that, she was director of the Rutgers/NOAA Cooperative Marine Education and Research Program and visiting professor at Rutgers University.
Finance
John Maragliano has joined SNAP Financial Group, a payment solutions provider offering turnkey and custom financing programs in HVAC and insurance markets, as chief financial officer. Prior to this appointment, Maragliano was executive VP and group CFO at Butterfield Bank, a publicly owned offshore bank with $10 billion in assets and $80 billion in off-balance-sheet assets.
Hospitality/Tourism/Convention
Robert Pratt has been appointed president of ONE Hospitality, the operating division of O’Neill Hotels & Resorts. For the past four years, Pratt held the position of president of Coast Hotels.
Non-Profit
Ken Bowden and Bruce Langereis have been appointed honorary co-chairs for the Pacific Salmon Foundation’s Vancouver gala on May 6, 2016. The gala will bring more than 700 members of the Vancouver business community together to raise money for wild B.C. salmon conservation projects. Langereis and Bowden are colleagues in Delta Land Development Ltd., avid anglers and longtime supporters of the foundation.

David Smith has been appointed CEO at QuickMobile. Prior to joining the enterprise mobile meeting and event apps firm, Smith was CEO at Elix Wireless Charging Systems, and he has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in Fortune 500 companies including Nortel Networks and Pitney Bowes.
Danny Kam has been appointed strategic partnership adviser at Optigo Networks. Kam was most recently VP, engineering, at Avigilon and, prior to that, was senior director and site manager and engineering director at Ericsson Vancouver (and Redback Networks prior to its acquisition) for more than 10 years.

Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon’s recent A Night to Dream Gala, held at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, raised $500,000 for Ronald McDonald House.
Spark, the Vancouver-based sales recruitment and staffing firm, donated $5,000 to the Richmond School District in support of the district’s Feed-U-Cate 38 breakfast initiative for children living in poverty.
McKesson Foundation donated $23,000 to PLEA Community Services. The funds will support PLEA’s KidStart mentoring program, with participants throughout Metro Vancouver.
Richmond Hospital Foundation’s 17th Starlight Gala raised more than $1.3 million to improve local health care in Richmond.
BC Lottery Corp. donated $60,260 to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. Funds were raised via the Crown corporation’s 15th annual BC Gaming Facilities Charity Golf Tournament.
Westminster Savings Foundation donated $20,000 to Canucks Autism Network. The funding will help support the network’s fall session of sports programs for more than 200 children and teens in Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, Pitt Meadows, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam.
The Real Estate Institute of British Columbia (REIBC) donated $33,687.51 to Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC and Yukon. Funds were raised at REIBC’s 22nd annual charity golf tournament.
For the third year in a row, RBC has donated $40,000 to the Justice Institute of British Columbia. The donation supports the delivery of entry-level, pre-hospital emergency health-care training in aboriginal communities in B.C.
British Columbians supported Red Cross emergency relief efforts in Syria with in-store donations at BC Liquor Stores of more than $70,000. In the wake of escalating violence in Syria, BC Liquor Stores collected donations from September 16 to October 17 on behalf of the Red Cross at 196 stores throughout the province.
Coast Capital Savings donated $50,000 to University of the Fraser Valley. The funds will help to support the Coast Capital Savings Peer Resource and Leadership Centre in the student union building on the Abbotsford campus. •
