Hub International Ltd. recently announced that Tina Osen, previously president and CEO, Hub TOS, has been appointed president of Hub Canada, while Chad Robertson, previously regional president, Canada West, has been appointed EVP, international business and growth initiatives.

Evan Adams, chief medical officer, First Nations Health Authority, and Brendan Carr, president and CEO, Island Health, have been appointed to the board of the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research. Adams was previously deputy provincial health officer, while Carr served as executive vice-president and chief medical officer with Island Health.

Max Borrowman has been appointed bar manager at Juniper Kitchen + Bar. Prior to this appointment, Borrowman was bar manager at Torafuku, and previously served at the Lobby Lounge at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver.

John Doolan and Heather Jones have joined Miller Thomson LLP’s Vancouver office as a partner in the real estate group and a partner in the litigation group, respectively. Doolan’s experience includes advising on major projects and financings, infrastructure development, structuring transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, partnerships and joint ventures; he has extensive experience on First Nations matters and acts for Tsawwassen First Nation in connection with the new Tsawwassen Mills development. Jones has extensive practical experience in a broad range of litigation with her focus being complex corporate/commercial matters.
Julie Facchin, Yue Fei and Diana Pogorski have joined Richards Buell Sutton LLP (RBS) as associates, while Priscilla Martindale has also joined the firm as marketing and business development manager. Facchin is a member of the firm’s litigation group and maintains a broad litigation practice with emphasis on commercial litigation, personal injury and estate litigation. Fei is a member of the firm’s intellectual property and corporate services groups and previously articled at an intellectual property boutique in Vancouver. Pogorski is a member of the firm’s business law group, focusing on corporate commercial matters, including incorporations, corporate reorganizations and corporate governance matters; she has also advised tech startups on starting a business. Prior to her appointment at RBS, Martindale was marketing and business development manager at Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP for six years.

Andrew Pyne has been appointed president and CEO of Wenco International Mining Systems, following the retirement of founder Phil Walshe. Pyne has more than two decades of leadership experience in the mining industry, most recently serving as vice-president, mining, at Dassault Systèmes Geovia.

Attendees of the second annual Big Law for Big Sisters wine dinner fundraiser donated $11,570 to Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland and its three mentoring programs. The evening was hosted at L’Abattoir by Susan Tomaine, chair, board of directors, Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland.
Tapestry Foundation’s Mustang Car Campaign raised a total of $44,120 to support quality-of-life initiatives for seniors living in Providence Health Care’s residential care community in Vancouver. The 1966 Mustang convertible was donated to Tapestry Foundation as a raffle prize by McGregor & Thompson Hardware Ltd. and Allegion Canada. Ron Seligman of Surrey was declared the raffle winner.
The 10th annual Summer Sunday Concerts in Port Moody’s Rocky Point Park raised $4,314.05 for Crossroads Hospice Society. Donations were raised through the annual free concert series held each Sunday in July and August. The 2016 concerts were sponsored by Pacific Coast Terminals, K+S Potash, TD Bank Group, Port of Vancouver and Tri-City News, with the support of the City of Port Moody.
Staff from Avison Young’s Vancouver office participated in the firm’s third annual Global Day of Giving by building a shed and providing interior painting at Westminster House Treatment Centre for Women. Materials and supplies were donated by Mutual Materials, Dick’s Lumber, Crystal Glass and Taiga Forest Products. •
