Martin Pochurko, CFO, Fraser Health Authority, joins Simon Fraser University (SFU) as its new VP, finance and administration, effective October 15. Pochurko’s career in the public sector includes a previous stint at SFU, where he served as associate VP, finance, from 2007 to 2012. Pochurko takes on the position after SFU’s former VP, finance and administration, Pat Hibbitts, passed away unexpectedly in June.

Ian Hardie has joined Bull Housser as an associate within the firm’s real estate group. Hardie assists senior lawyers and advises clients on real estate transactions involving the acquisition, financing, leasing, development and sale of commercial, industrial and residential properties.

Genesa Greening has been appointed executive director at First United Church Community Ministry Society. Greening has a leadership background supporting and advocating for people overcoming homelessness and poverty.

James P. Hatton, partner, Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP, has been appointed chair of LifeSciences BC’s board of directors. Nancy Harrison, co-founder and chief business officer, MSI Methylation Sciences, has been appointed vice-chair.

Nancy Morison has been appointed COO at Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery Inc. (SPUD). Prior to this appointment, Morison was COO at Coastal Contacts Inc. and was a finalist in the 2013 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards.

George Skaryak has joined Vision Critical as EVP, worldwide sales. Skaryak has more than 25 years of experience in enterprise software sales and sales leadership. Prior to this, Skaryak was VP, sales, at 41st Parameter, a leader in online fraud intervention.

Ian Klassen has been appointed president and COO of Graphene 3D. Klassen has 25 years of experience in public company management, public relations, government affairs and entrepreneurialism.

Hats Off

Business in Vancouver welcomes submissions from local small businesses and large corporations alike that demonstrate examples of corporate philanthropy and community involvement in the Vancouver area. High-resolution images are also welcome.

The Rotary Club of Vancouver donated $10,000 to Decoda Literacy Solutions. The funds will be directed towards the Decoda Literacy library.

First West Foundation donated $10,000 to SHARE Family and Community Services Society. The funds will support the opening of five new English practice group programs helping immigrants and refugees to converse in English.

Fraser Surrey Docks LP donated $50,000 to Reach’s campaign Building for Children Together.

UPS Foundation donated US$28,000 to the BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre Foundation. The funds will be used for a Criticool therapeutic hypothermia system for the BC Women’s Hospital’s newborn intensive care unit.

Industry Training Authority has donated $40,000 to the Vancouver School District for Secondary School Apprenticeship program support for the 2015-16 school year. The program places students in grades 10 to 12 with local employers to gain practical experience.

Sunrise Soya Foods donated $18,000 to the Canadian Diabetes Association, in support of Camp Kakhamela. •
