Juan Jose Cruz Martinez has joined ZGF Cotter Architects as an architect. Cruz Martinez came from Silver Thomas Hanley (STH) in Melbourne, Australia. He brings experience from medium-scale and large-scale healthcare, senior’s residential care, residential, commercial and institutional projects.

Health/Medical 

The BC Pharmacy Association has elected its 2016-17 board of directors: Randy Konrad has been elected president and is the director of pharmacy for Safeway and Thrifty Foods in B.C. Alex Dar Santos has been elected vice-president and is the associate-owner of Shoppers Drug Mart in Richmond. Linda Gutenberg is the director of pharmacy for Forewest Holdings in Langley. Jamie Wigston is a pharmacist at West End Medicine Centre in New Westminster.

Legal

Janice Wu has joined Boughton Law as an associate to practice corporate and commercial law, advising clients on business matters.

Heather Watt has joined Boughton Law as an associate. Watt will be a part of the entertainment practice group, supporting clients in all aspects of entertainment law.

Manufacturing

Giovanni Iadeluca has been appointed president of Fortress Paper Ltd, the company’s dissolving pulp segment. Iadeluca is a chartered professional accountant with more than 20 years of senior management experience in the manufacturing industry. Iadeluca was formerly the chief executive officer of AV Terrace Bay Inc.

Technology

Mark DePietro has joined Vecima Networks Inc. as its senior VP of marketing. DePietro has experience in complex technology product development including business and strategy development in the video and cable industry. Prior to this appointment, DePietro was VP of product management and business development in video infrastructure at ARRIS. Prior to the ARRIS acquisition of Motorola, he held multiple VP positions within Motorola including VP and general manager of video access, VP strategy and business development as well as VP product management and systems engineering for digital network systems.

Hats Off

Scotiabank has donated $15,000 to the Canadian Liver Foundation’s liver health research, education and support programs for children and families living with liver disease in our community.

Shoppers Drug Mart Life Foundation donated $5,000 to Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland to support the agency’s Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds program, a group mentoring program that encourages physical activity, healthy eating and the development of a positive self-image among girls aged 11 to 14. The program is being offered in select Vancouver, Surrey, Coquitlam and Burnaby schools.
