Peeter Wesik has been appointed a director on the Royal BC Museum’s board. Wesik, president of Wesgroup Properties, previously practised law as a partner at Russell & Dumoulin (now Fasken Martineau DuMoulin) and is involved in numerous industry associations including the Urban Development Institute, where he served as a director and past chair. He is also a past trustee of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Karoline Clarke has joined Terra Law Corp. as an associate lawyer. Clarke joins the firm after articling with the Vancouver office of a global law firm. She will assist clients with all aspects of real estate transactions, developments and financings.

Greg Gutmanis has been appointed chief financial officer, VP of acquisitions and corporate secretary at Diversified Royalty Corp. Gutmanis previously served as interim CFO of the company from March 2014 to January 2015. Jason Granger has stepped down as the company’s CFO and corporate secretary to pursue another opportunity. Gutmanis rejoins the company from Maxam Opportunities Fund II LP, a private equity firm that focuses on structured investments in both publicly traded and private companies, where he served as CFO and vice-president since early 2009.

Frank Wood has been promoted to senior vice-president at Baywest Management Corp., an Associa company. Adam Lord has been hired to take on Wood’s former role as vice-president of operations. Wood has been with Baywest for eight years and will be moving from the Vancouver office to the Surrey location. Lord has more than 16 years of experience in the property management field.

Alan Baker has been appointed vice-president, project and construction manager, for Euromax Resources Ltd.’s Ilovica project in Macedonia. Baker brings more than 35 years of experience in the mining sector and has a proven track record in successful project management and construction. He previously acted as project manager on the Santa Rosa gold deposit in Colombia for Red Eagle Mining, where he took responsibility for the project feasibility study and final permitting and on through to project financing.

Dusty Yurkin has joined Outsource Marketing’s White Rock office as a marketing co-ordinator. Yurkin previously worked in administration and marketing for VIA Architecture. Richard Meiklejohn has been appointed CEO of Zafin, a provider of relationship banking software for the financial services industry. Based in Hong Kong, Meiklejohn has more than 25 years of software, consulting, sales and management experience in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining Zafin, he was a partner in Heidrick and Struggles’ leadership consulting practice, focusing on individual, team and organizational development across multiple industries, including financial services.

Great-West Life donated $15,000 on behalf of GWL Realty Advisors, a wholly owned subsidiary of Great- West Life. The funds will be directed towards the purchase of much needed equipment at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Over 600 newborns, children and teens with life-threatening illnesses and their families receive pediatric palliative care from Canuck Place through outreach programs and its two hospice locations in Vancouver and Abbotsford.
Scotiabank donated $5,000 to the Vancouver Board of Trade, in support of its Leaders of Tomorrow mentorship program.
British Columbia Automobile Association employees and partners provided Zajac Ranch for Children with more than 350 hours of donated time, as well as building and landscape materials. The team undertook important renovations and improvements around the facility.
CTG Brands donated $30,000 to Richmond Hospital Foundation to help purchase a new portable ultrasound unit. The unit will be used to help insert PICC lines, thin soft plastic tubes that allow patients to receive medicines and fluids through an intravenous-like line in the arm. •
