Capilano University has appointed a number of new members to its board of governors: Nicholas Cartmell, vice chair of the government relations council and the senior director of strategic initiatives at Telus; Cherian Itt, founding director of the Capilano University Alumni Association; Jessie Williams, acting department head of education for the Squamish Nation. Michelle Gervais has been elected as student representative for a one-year term. Gervais is a second-year Capilano University business administration diploma student.

Peter Brady has been appointed executive director of the British Columbia Securities Commission. Peter served as the BCSC’s director of corporate finance starting in 2012 where he led a number of initiatives related to venture market health and capital raising. Prior to rejoining the BCSC in 2012, Peter served as general counsel of Qtrade Financial Group, a national wealth management company.
Ian McAuley has been appointed president of American Hotel Income Properties. McAuley joined AHIP in 2015. His extensive experience includes 15 years as president and COO of Superior Lodging Corp. and five years as president and CEO of Continuum Health Care Holdings.

Greg Peet has been appointed chairman of Vigil Health Solutions Inc. Shareholders elected Peet as one of the company’s directors.
Troy Griffiths has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Vigil Health Solutions Inc. Shareholders elected Griffiths as one of the company’s directors.
Nicola Chalmers has been appointed chief financial officer and secretary of Vigil Health Solutions Inc.
Jacquie Brennan has been appointed vice-president of operations for Vigil Health Solutions Inc.
Steven Smith has been appointed vice-president of research and development for Vigil Health Solutions Inc.

Terry Duggan has been appointed president and CEO of the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA). Duggan was formerly vice-president finance and acting CEO .
Mike Leonard has been appointed to senior vice-president of employee relations, dispatch and corporate secretary for the BCMEA. Leonard was formerly vice-president of labour relations.

Jennifer Myhal has joined Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP as an associate. Myhal completed her articles with the firm, and was called to the bar in August 2016. Myhal will join the firm’s corporate, commercial and securities practice group.

Chat Ortved has been appointed partner at Bull Housser business Lawgroup. Prior to joining Bull Housser, Ortved was a partner with a Toronto-based law firm where he practised for eight years.
Danielle Bensler has joined Bull Housser as an associate in the maritime law group. Prior to joining Bull Housser, Bensler worked in-house at Teekay Corporation and for a national law firm.

Gerald Macintyre has been appointed general manager for the new Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World to open later this year in the Tsawwassen Mills near Vancouver. Prior to joining Bass Pro Shops, Macintyre held management positions at other national retail brands.

Andrew Storrie has been appointed president, chief operating officer of Anfield Gold Corp. and general manager of Chapleau Exploração Mineral LTDA. Storrie has 25 years of international mining experience and started his mining career at the South Crofty mine in Cornwall, U.K.

White Spot donated $105,748 in support of the Zajac Ranch for Children on their annual Pirate Pak Day. Zajac Ranch provides a safe and fun camp experience for children and young adults facing chronic, life-threatening or debilitating conditions.
Van Tel/Safeway Credit Union Legacy Fund, administered by the Vancity Community Foundation, has donated $2,500 to Douglas College Foundation. The money will fund bursaries for students who are in financial need and enrolled in the Youth Justice Diploma Program at Douglas College.
Jack and Sylvia Gin Foundation donated $15,000 to the Tapestry Foundation for Health Care. The donation will be used to help purchase a bronchoscope for the respiratory medicine program at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital.
