When Don Gauvreau was a kid, he used to dream about being a millionaire.
“I used to talk about it a lot; I used to tell my sisters, ‘I'm going to be a millionaire one day,'” Gauvreau said. “Both my parents were teachers, so they didn't make that much money.
“I always wanted something more than to just have a regular job.”
After following in his parents' footsteps and becoming a teacher, Gauvreau switched careers to start a supplements company, PharmaFreak Technologies. The business took off, and Gauvreau achieved his childhood dream of making a million dollars – and then some.
Like many career-driven people, Gauvreau said, he worked long hours and spent many hours on the road away from his young family. He's now come to the realization that making money shouldn't come at the expense of spending time with loved ones.
“People get caught up in their work and they lose sight of what's really important,” he said.
To free up their schedules, Gauvreau and his business partner are now hiring staff to take on some of the work of expanding the business.
“Our focus right now is really to bring in a lot of talented staff, to reward them, and hopefully we can work with them and make their family lives better,” Gauvreau said.
“I don't believe our business will be successful if our family life is not successful.”
