B.C.’s increase was driven by an advance in commercial buildings and single-family dwellings.
For the same period, Vancouver’s building permits rose 81.1%, compared with an average rise of 20.1% across Canada’s census metropolitan areas.
B.C.’s monthly rise was 14.5% in September, compared with a national decline of 13.2%. Vancouver’s monthly rise was 20.9% in September.
Statistics Canada stated that nationally, the monthly decline was mostly driven by drops in permits in the non-residential sector.
