Housing starts in the Vancouver Census Metropolitan Area were relatively stable in September when compared with August, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) data released October 8.
The six-month moving average in September was 19,473 units. This is an increase of 54 units – or 0.28% – when compared with August.
“Increased construction activity for single-detached, semi-detached and row homes in September contributed to the slightly higher trend for housing starts this month compared to August,” said CMHC senior market analyst for Vancouver Lance Jakubec.
Starts in Abbotsford were trending at 792 units in September – a drop of 188 units or nearly 24%.
