Shaped like a glass talon and sitting next to Vancouver’s historic Marine building, Wayne Berger says just a glimpse of the new MNP Tower is proof it’s a special building.

“It will be an address that has cachet that will be recognized in the downtown core. People will want to be located there,” said the vice-president of Regus Canada, which provides flexible workspace options to entrepreneurs, small businesses and foreign companies looking to launch in B.C.

On Tuesday (February 10), Regus became the first tenant to move into MNP Tower. The largest tenant in the building will be MNP, which at first was reluctant to have the tower carry its name.

Berger said the goal is to fill the flexible workspace with clients as quickly as possible. The firm specializes in providing businesses with co-working space, offices, meeting rooms and administrative services.

For example, an entrepreneur who wants to look more legitimate could get his mail forwarded to the MNP address or else hold a meeting inside the building as opposed to at a coffee shop.

Berger said Regus Canada forecasts the Loonie’s notable decline since the new year means more foreign companies will be looking toward Canada to set up shop.

The company hasn’t experienced that uptick in foreign business just yet, he added, but there is still more potential demand for Regus’ services than previously.

The MNP Tower is the eighth Regus location to open in Vancouver and the 15th to open in B.C.

In addition to opening the MNP Tower location on Tuesday, Regus also opened its first location in Surrey at 7404 King George Blvd. the same day.

Prior to February, the closest flexible working space Regus offered was in either Langley or Richmond.

“The biggest appeal that we have for Surrey is the fact that it’s one of the largest cities in Canada,” Berger said.

“We’ve been looking in Surrey for the last number of years trying to find the right location, the right building, the right experience for our clients and we feel like we found that with out new location.”
