B.C.’s newest ski resort residential development launched this week at Panorama Mountain Village where the resort started selling 21 lots that will be the first phase of what it expects will eventually be 750 housing units worth more than $350 million.

Dubbed Trappers Ridge, the development has vacant lots that start at $169,000. The price for a lot and a home is estimated to cost $435,000. Single-family homes at Panorama Mountain Village, which is in the Kootenays, previously cost in the $650,000 to $2 million range.

“We’ve created a strong family-focused playground and now we’re ready to take it to the next level starting with the Trappers Ridge development,” said Rick Jensen who is CEO of the resort but will soon transition to head of real estate development at the resort. New Panorama CEO Steve Paccagnan is set to start November 4.

Home owners can ski in and ski out close to their doorsteps.

“Panorama Mountain Village has the land to double the size of the resort and elevate it to a position among the very best vacation destinations,” Jensen added.

Panorama is in the Purcell Mountains, part of what is commonly referred to as the Powder Highway.

It is a 3.5 hour drive from Calgary and is close to the town of Invermere On The Lake.

Nine lifts service the massive 4,000 vertical feet and close to 3,000 acres of skiable terrain.

Business in Vancouver ranked the resort earlier this year as the fifth largest destination resort in B.C.
