A Loblaw Companies Ltd. (TSX:L) grocery store will occupy the entire retail premises at the upcoming Arbutus Ridge development, the developer – Cressey Development Group – announced September 25.
The store will occupy 20,000 square feet at the West 16th and Arbutus Street property, which is scheduled to start construction this fall, with completion expected in 2015.
“Vancouver’s Westside is generally underserviced by food stores, so we were confident that this location would attract a strong operator that would want to deliver a great shopping experience to local residents,” said Hani Lammam, Cressey Development Group’s vice-president of development and acquisitions.
“We’ve seen Arbutus Ridge be particularly popular with existing homeowners looking to downsize or upgrade while remaining in the same neighbourhood and I trust that the new grocery store will be a great amenity that will enhance the livability of the project and the neighbourhood.”
The development will be a live-work property with 49 homes.
