Vancouver-based Onni Group has finalized its purchase of the land where The Seattle Times' former headquarters stands, reports the Puget Sound Business Journal.
The Times sold the block bounded by Fairview and Boren avenues north and John and Thomas streets in Seattle for $29 million, according to public records. Earlier this year, Onni bought the parking lot just to the south for $33.5 million.
These properties, which are located next to Amazon.com’s headquarters, are the first parcels Onni has bought in Seattle.
Onni recently filed plans with the city to build four residential towers on the two blocks. The buildings will also have retail space.
Under zoning rules, Onni would be able to build towers up to 400 feet tall on the more southern block and 240 feet on the block to the north, where the headquarters building stands.
Onni executive vice-president Chris Evans told the Puget Sound Business Journal that the development would be done in phases.
