As B.C. waits for the provincial budget to be unveiled February 21, B.C. independent power producer Alterra Power Corp. is calling for government support for B.C.'s resource sectors.
"Our province's future well-being and ability to pay for our world-class social programs stems from our ability to retain and attract new investments especially in our natural resources sectors," Alterra executive vice-chairman Donald McInnes told Business in Vancouver.
McInnes advocated that the province:
- work with the federal government on permitting reform with a goal of "one project, one process";
- take advantage of the natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) opportunities as identified in the provincial government's strategies and create as much wealth as possible from these; and
- continue to create meaningful partnerships with First Nations to build the next phase of BC's clean energy legacy.
