The provincial government has made more than $20 million selling nine plots of land in its latest monthly natural gas and petroleum land sale.
Of the $20.4 million raised at the sale, more than $18 million came from the lease of one parcel in the Laprise Creek-Sojer area, located about 130 kilometres northwest of Fort St. John.
Companies purchasing land at the natural gas and petroleum sale apply to the province for either a lease or a drilling licence on the plot it purchased.
A lease – which can be for either a five- or 10-year term – grants a company the right to produce natural gas or petroleum.
A drilling licence, on the other hand, allows a company to explore for natural gas or petroleum.
Revenue from the natural gas and petroleum sales in 2013 has now reached $154.3 million.
