A fire that broke out just after midnight Sunday has destroyed a Maple Ridge cedar mill, owned by Waldun Forest Products.
“The main mill is totally destroyed,” Maple Ridge assistant fire chief Mark Smitton told Business in Vancouver.
He said nobody was hurt in the blaze.
“There was just a security guard at the mill at that time of day and [there were] no injuries.”
Smitton said the cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined.
“We’re still working on that today.”
According to media reports, the mill employs 50 to 60 people.
Waldun Forest Products could not be reached by press deadline.
