Another sawmill has gone up in flames – but this time no one was injured, as the mill had been idle for some time.

On Thursday at around 10 p.m., the Tembec planer mill caught fire. No one was injured in the blaze, reports the City of Cranbrook’s fire department.

The fire department stated the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Neither the kiln nor the finger joint plant on the property was involved in the fire, the City of Cranbrook reports.

WorkSafe BC and the Cranbrook fire department are investigating cause of the blaze.

Tembec’s finger joint and planer mill were shut down in 2007 and were slated for imminent demolition.

In January, the Babine Forest Products sawmill in Burns Lake exploded, killing two people and injuring more than a dozen others. In April, a fire burned the Lakeland mill in Prince George, killing one person and injuring two dozen others.
