Three of the four Goldcorp (TSX:G), (NYSE:GG) employees believed to have been abducted last week have been found dead in southwestern Mexico's Guerrero state, the same area where 43 teachers were kidnapped and massacred last year.
The miners worked at the Vancouver-based company's Los Filos gold and silver mine, located in Mexico's fifth biggest gold producing region, but also the one with the country’s highest homicide rate.

The incident comes a month after the week-long suspension of construction at Torex Gold's $800 million Limón-Guajes gold project after about 13 people were kidnapped, including mineworkers, a female custodian and a contractor. Eleven of those kidnapped have been freed with the help of the Mexican Army.
The fourth Goldcorp employee has since been freed, family members told Reuters.
The Los Filos mine’s reputation has been tainted by a history of disagreements with landowners. Last year, Goldcorp had to suspend operations for about month, as it was unable to negotiate the renewal of an occupancy agreement with the group.
