Dynasty Metals (TSX:DMM) evacuated its gold mine operation in Ecuador over the weekend following a generator malfunction that sent smoke billowing throughout its facility.

The Vancouver-based company confirmed no workers were injured during the April 20 incident at its Zaruma Gold Project.

Dynasty said in a statement a generator inside the mine, near the entrance, was giving off "a significant amount of smoke" when the company evacuated all its employees.

The mining company pointed to a poor fuel mix in the generator as the cause of the smoke.

No fire resulted from the generator malfunction, however, the evacuation resulted in the cancellation of the mining operation's day shift.
