An Apple (Nasdaq:APPL) spokesperson confirmed Wednesday afternoon that the company will open its fifth B.C. retail store Saturday at Coquitlam Centre.
The store opens at 9:30 a.m. and the first 1,000 people through the doors gets a free Apple T-shirt.
Apple Store Coquitlam will be the 25th Apple store in Canada and will employ 79 people.
The news comes amid rumours that Apple is laying people off and cutting back on hours in the UK and U.S.
Apple has two stores in Vancouver, one in Burnaby and one in Richmond.
