North Vancouver’s Arc’teryx has signed a three-year partnership agreement with the British Columbia Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA) for the provision of equipment and clothing.
The agreement will see the outerwear manufacturer and retailer providing clothing such as outerwear, thermal underwear and gloves, as well as equipment including harnesses and backpacks, to the BCSARA at an undisclosed but “substantial” discount.
There are more than 2,500 unpaid volunteers across the province that make up the BCSARA, and they respond to calls for almost 1,300 lost or missing people every year.
“Together these men and women donate over 100,000 hours of their time on callouts annually,” said Chris Armstrong, BCSARA marketing and communications.
Arc’teryx pro and industry sales supervisor James Bronson said, “The professional volunteers that donate their time to search and rescue organizations don’t have time to focus on anything other than helping others when it matters.”
Arc’teryx has several partnerships in place, with organizations such as the Alpine Club of Canada, the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association.
