Retail sales were up in February across Canada, but took a slight dip in B.C., according to Statistics Canada data released yesterday.
B.C. retailers took in $5.12 billion in February 2013, compared with $5.17 billion in February 2012. Sales in B.C. decreased by 0.3% when compared with January's numbers.
StatsCan's data shows that Canadians bought more gas, cars, electronics and appliances and shopped more at department stores in February. Sales at grocery stores were up slightly.
But furniture and clothing sales were down in February, following two months of gains in those sectors.
