British Columbians are planning to spend $101 on average for Father’s Day this weekend – 6% more than the national average of $95 – according to the results of a BMO poll released this week.
Albertans anticipate spending the most for their dads this weekend, with respondents saying they will spend an average of $116.
The survey found that sons are planning to spend more than daughters are this weekend, saying they planned to spend $110 and $80, respectively.
The thriftiest regions were the Atlantic provinces ($61) and the Prairies ($86).
Some 6% of respondents across Canada said they didn’t plan on shelling out for dad this weekend.
A similar survey was conducted for the most recent Mother’s Day, in which respondents said they would spend $107 on average on their moms –13% more than they are planning to spend on dad.
