A new campaign aimed at getting consumers and businesses alike to support other local business by buying local officially launches today.
LOCO BC’s Live Local, Buy Local campaign is to be officially launched today at 5:30 p.m. at the Dodson Conference Centre at 25 East Hastings. The launch coincides with this week’s Buy Local Week.
LOCO BC connects consumers with local businesses, and businesses with other businesses.
“The thing we hear most often is, ‘How do I know who’s local?’ said LOCO BC founder Amy Robinson. “So we created this campaign to connect the shopping public with our network of amazing local businesses.
“The businesses themselves are not only locally owned, but are often sourcing local products or services, and are engaged in efforts to green their business.”
The LOCO BC site lists dozens of members on its website www.locobc.com. According to LOCO BC, local businesses circulate more money within a local economy than large chains.
