Burnaby-based Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (TSX:RBA) sold more than US$53 million of equipment at two-day public auction in Houston, Texas last week.
The auction set a record for most items sold at a Texas auction, at more than 4,700 pieces.
The equipment on sale at the auction included 160 truck tractors, 70 agricultural tractors and more than 60 rough-terrain cranes.
More than 3,700 people from 59 countries – including all 50 U.S. states – registered to bid in person or online in the auction.
“This auction – our fourth Houston auction of 2013 – featured one of the best selections of transport and heavy haul equipment we ever sold in Houston,” said Alan McVicker, regional sales manager at Ritchie Bros.
“We attracted buyers from around the world, which created a strong and competitive bidding environment.”
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers placed 28th in Business in Vancouver’s 2013 Top 100 Public Companies list with a net income of $79,466,000.
