Russell Breweries’ CEO Brian Harris, who purchased the company from its founding family the Russells in 2004, has retired.
Harris’ retirement from the brewery was effective September 1.
Benjamin Li Yu, a director with Russell Breweries, has been promoted to interim CEO until a replacement for Harris is found.
In a phone interview with Business in Vancouver, Yu said no timeframe has been set to find a replacement.
New of Harris’s retirement comes at the end of a summer of management change at the company.
On August 8, Russell Breweries announced the appointment of two new members, Peter H. Stafford and Richard Ruijian Shi, to its board of directors.
On July 10, the company’s chief financial officer, Gary Liu, resigned for personal reasons, according to a press release.
Russell Breweries is based in Surrey. In May the company announced it was planning to open a test brewery and brewpub restaurant in Hefei, China.
