Absolute's Stephen Broscoe: new program addresses BYOD security concerns

Vancouver’s Absolute Software Corporation (TSX:ABT), the maker of the LoJack anti-theft tracking device for computers, has opened a new Asian headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

The new office will provide sales support for consumers and businesses.
“The Absolute Software office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, allows us to expand our global reach and better support our customers in the Asia Pacific region,” said Mark Grace, Absolute’s global consumer vice-president for Asia Pacific and Latin America.

“Two of our largest customers are located in Australia, so we already have a strong base of existing business within the region. Our new presence in Kuala Lumpur solidifies our strategy to create more partnerships and grow our business in this part of the world.”
Mark Winter, Absolute’s managing director of technology, said, “There are great growth opportunities in Malaysia and Asia Pacific as more and more organizations are facing the challenges presented by the increasingly mobile nature of devices and data.”

Absolute makes computer tracking and management hardware and software. Its LoJack firmware is designed to locate and lock stolen computers and erase files remotely. The company also makes Absolute Manage 6.1, which allows companies to manage computers and devices used by employees under BYOD (bring your own device) policies.
