Security is a common theme this year for two finalists in the BC Technology Industry Association's annual Technology Impact Awards.
Avigilon Corp. (TSX:AVO), which makes high definition cameras used in surveillance, and Absolute Software Corp. (TSX:ABT), which makes tracking software for stolen computers, have both been named as finalists in the company of the year category.
Tantalus Systems Corp., which makes smart grid communications technology, is also a finalist in that category.
Winners will be announced June 14 at the 2012 Technology Impact Awards dinner at the Vancouver Convention Centre's west building.
Emerging company of the year finalists are:
- Recon Instruments;
- ResponseTek;
- Tasktop Technologies.
Most promising pre-commercial technology:
- Dali Wireless (Canada) Inc.;
- Lungpacer Medical Inc.;
- Verisante Technology Inc.
Excellence in product innovation:
Most promising startup:
- Kashoo;
- Secodix.
