Online furniture retailer Cymax is one of four companies chosen for Company of the Year in this year’s BCTIA Technology Impact Awards.

Information archiving company Global Relay and Sierra Wireless, which is working on building Internet of Things (IOT) technology, are also in the running for this top honour.

“The 2015 TIAs Finalists illustrate the diversity and increasing maturity of the BC tech industry,” said Bill Tam, president of BCTIA. “Many of these companies are at the forefront of our industry already, leading the way in terms of global recognition.

“It’s our job to help them grow and expand their reach, and recognition through the TIAs program is a great step in that direction.”

The awards span nine categories. Winners will be announced June 4 at the 22nd annual TIA awards event.

The other finalists are:

Adoption of Technology

Most Promising Pre-Commercial Technology

Excellence in Product Innovation

Community Engagement

Team of the Year

Most Promising Startup

Emerging Company of the Year

Company of the Year

The BCTIA will also be presenting a Person of the Year award to a B.C. individual who has made a significant impact on the province’s tech sector.

“This contribution may be through paid or volunteer activities with a company, research institution, association, or non-profit agency,” Tam said.
