Canadian business have nothing but praise for the benefits of smartphones, tablets and other mobile technologies — they just have a time tough investing in them, according to survey results from Sage North America.
The software company, which polled 1,628 small- to mid-size businesses in Canada, found 73% of respondents reported mobile technology having a positive effect on customer service.
Despite those benefits, just 7% of companies surveyed said they set an annual budget for mobile technology.
Nearly four out of five (78%) of business executives admitted to only purchasing mobile devices when the need arises as opposed to moving forward with mobile-centric plans that come from their own initiatives.
Furthermore, the number of Canadian companies supplying mobile devices to employees dropped to 63% in 2014 from 71% the year prior.
Despite the drop, small- to mid-size Canadian businesses still outdo their counterparts in the U.S., where 54% of executives supply workers with mobile devices.
The survey was conducted between April 18 and May 4, 2014. The margin of error for the executive respondents is plus-or-minus 5% with a confidence level of 95%.
