B.C.’s largest employers are courting students Friday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Business Career Expo, B.C.’s largest annual job fair aimed at business students.

Held at the Westin Bayshore Hotel and Resort, the eighth annual event is open only to those who are in degree programs or are alumni of either University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business or the University of Victoria’s Peter B. Gustavson School of Business.

Business Career Expo manager Rochelle Diablo told Business in Vancouver March 22 that SFU launched the event in 2004 and brought UBC on board in 2006. This is the first year that University of Victoria degree-program students and alumni are also invited to attend.

Business in Vancouver Media Group joins 65 other employers who will be at the 2012 show.

“We had more than 1,100 students attend last year when the expo was just for UBC and SFU students,” Diablo said. “Excitement continues to grow this year because we have the University of Victoria joining us for the first time.”

Students and employers are expected to be tweeting during the event by using the #BCE12 hashtag.
