Hootsuite has laid off 20 Vancouver-based employees, the social media management company has announced.

In a statement emailed to Business in Vancouver, Hootsuite said the layoffs were part of a “global reorganization.” However, when asked whether there were further layoffs in other Hootsuite locations, a spokeswoman for the company said she was “unable to comment further.”

The company also said it plans to hire 100 people in 2016 as part of this restructuring.

“With this reorganization, we have merged some business units and cut others, which unfortunately meant we had to transition around 20 Vancouver employees out of the business,” the statement said.

Hootsuite has more than 10 million customers worldwide and offices in London, Paris, San Francisco, Hamburg, Sao Paulo, Bucharest, Singapore and Boston, with headquarters located in Vancouver. The company was launched in 2008.
