Hootsuite, known for managing users’ social media accounts, is getting some new help managing its books.
The Vancouver-based startup named Sujeet Kini as its first chief financial officer Monday (October 19), signalling the company is getting closer to making an initial public offering.
He’ll lead the company's finance, facilities and legal departments beginning today, Hootsuite said in a statement.
Up until Friday, Kini had served as chief accounting officer at Open Text, a software company headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, which specializes in information management.
Following Ottawa-based Shopify’s (TSX:SH) $131-million IPO in May, Hootsuite CEO Ryan Holmes said at a Vancouver conference he may speed up his own plans to take his company public.
Open Text is one of Canada’s largest publicly traded software companies and Hootsuite also announced Monday it had appointed former Open Text CFO and chief administrative officer Paul McFeeter to its board of directors.
"(Kini’s and McFeeter’s) strong financial leadership is ideal for the next chapter in Hootsuite's growth," Holmes said in a statement.
Last year, Holmes recruited former Groupon executive Ajai Sehgal as Hootsuite's new chief technology officer.
