Dynamic Energy Solutions Ltd. (DES), a Vancouver company specializing in power storage products, has developed a lithium-ion battery for Capilano Golf and Country Club's greens mowers.
The battery has a longer charge than lead acid batteries, allowing greens crews to cut up to nine greens per mower on one charge. The battery also makes less noise than a standard battery.
The golf club has purchased six new electric greens mowers fitted with the batteries.
"The DES lithium-ion battery module's noise-reducing benefits have significantly reduced the amount of noise when mowing greens," said Capilano Golf and Country Club superintendent Jamie Robb.
"This has allowed us to meet or exceed West Vancouver's strict municipal noise bylaws while helping mower operators hear their supervisors and the operation of their equipment better."
