Mike Greenley takes over as group president of MDA on January 15 | Submitted

MDA has named its new boss following a corporate restructuring that saw part of its leadership team move to a newly created parent company.

The Vancouver-founded aerospace firm, originally known as MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, will be led by Mike Greenley as of January 15.

Former CEO Howard Lance moved over to Maxar Technologies Ltd. (TSX:MAXR) in October after MDA completed its acquisition of Colorado-based DigitalGlobe for US$2.4 billion.

San Francisco-based Maxar is the new parent company of MDA and DigitalGlobe, as well as the Radiant Solutions and SSL business units.

Greenley’s official job title is group president of MDA.

While MDA remains based in Vancouver, Greenley will be based in the firm’s Brampton, Ontario office.

Lance, meanwhile, has been based in California since replacing Daniel Friedmann in 2016.

Prior to accepting the top job at MDA, Greenley was sector president of L-3 Wescam in Burlington, Ontario.

Wescam is best known for its highly specialized imaging equipment for military and law enforcement.

MDA is perhaps best known as the maker of the iconic Canadarm, a robotic arm used in space shuttle missions.
