A Mexican digital media company is preparing to hang out its shingle in Vancouver a year after the Latin country?s Ministry of Economy set up a business accelerator program designed to encourage high-tech sector cooperation.

?They are going to be opening a subsidiary here in Canada in the very near future,? said Federico Goroztieta, CEO of TechBA Vancouver, although he wouldn?t divulge the name of the company.

TechBA is funded by the Mexican government and the United States-Mexico Foundation for Science (FUMEC). There are TechBA offices in five U.S. cities, one in Madrid and two in Canada (Vancouver and Montreal).

TechBA Vancouver opened with 21 Mexican entrepreneurs participating in the program, which helps Mexican startups in life sciences, new media, wireless, digital animation and clean-tech sectors by lining them up with Canadian consultants. Goroztieta said close to 50 Mexican startups are now participating in the program. ?
