It’s an extremely common practice and chances are you know several movie-lovers who have done this.

Many Netflix subscribers on this side of the border hear about the seemingly boundless movie and TV show offerings on the streaming service’s American site and tap into a circumvention service to give them access to these titles.

But Netflix said this is a violation of its terms, and it is time to stop this.

The streaming pioneer has started testing a number of ways to block this unauthorized access, according to technology news site TorrentFreak.com.

One popular tool to get around the rules is Unblock Us, which according to its Twitter account is based in Barbados. This provides access to the U.S.-only version of Netflix to subscribers around the world by masking a user’s true location

As of press time, Netflix has not responded to a request for comment.
