Colleges in B.C. and the Yukon have partnered with the BC Justice Institute to create a new network that will help businesses and organizations tap the expertise of post-secondary schools to help them with research and innovation.
British Columbia Colleges, which represents 11 institutes, the Justice Institute and Yukon College have formally announced the BC Applied Research and Innovation Network (BCARIN).
The network’s mandate is to connect businesses and organizations with the colleges’ students and faculty.
“Importantly, the network aims to enhance business productivity and improve the outcomes sought by community organizations,” the organization said in a press release.
Partnerships between industry and universities have proven highly successful. Mitacs, for example, is a Canadian network that helps business and industry access graduate students in Canadian universities to help them with innovation.
