B.C. clean-tech companies hoping to get in front of some of America’s top venture capitalists may want to try to get themselves nominated for the 2014 Global Cleantech 100 awards.
The Cleantech Group has issued its call for nominations for the 2014 awards.
Last year’s top 100 list included B.C.’s Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc. – one of only five Canadian clean-tech companies to make last year’s top 100 list.
That list also included Nest, which won the award for North American company of the year. Nest is the home automation company that Google Inc. (Nasdaq:GOOG) is acquiring for $3.2 billion.
Every year, the Cleantech Group receives more than 9,000 nominations, which are shortlisted to 300. The top 300 companies to make the shortlist are invited to attend the Global Cleantech Top 100 gala event in Washington, D.C.
An expert panel made up of more than a dozen top venture capitalists select the top 100 winners.
Last year’s panel included Vancouver clean-tech venture capitalist Wal van Lierop, CEO of Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital.
