Vancouver-based online and social game developer Roadhouse Interactive Ltd. has acquired local game developer The Embassy Interactive, Roadhouse announced this morning.
The acquisition brings Roadhouse's staff to 27 from a previous 19.
According to Roadhouse, the acquisition will allow the company to quickly expand its roster of projects, which includes Family Guy Online and MechWarrior Tactics.
In a statement, Roadhouse said that, effective immediately, Embassy will become Roadhouse Game Studios and will focus on new product development for Facebook, smartphones and tablets.
"The acquisition of Embassy is a strategic fit for us and a critical step in our growth," said James Hursthouse, Roadhouse CEO, in the statement.
Gary Kanazawa, Embassy CEO also welcomed the move.
"Roadhouse is a proven Triple A online games company, and we are excited about what we will be able to achieve together and to help accelerate Roadhouse's business," Kanazawa said.
Roadhouse Game Studios will continue to operate as a separate entity from Roadhouse Interactive.
The value of the acquisition has not been disclosed.
