The BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) is expanding its Centre4Growth acceleration program to the District of Maple Ridge and the City of Surrey.

The program is geared toward the growth and acceleration of B.C. technology companies. Since its launch in September 2010, the program has:

  • coached nearly 300 companies through its CEO-in-Residence initiative;
  • aided client companies in growing their employment by 15%, or 237 net new jobs;
  • helped client companies in growing revenue by 76% ($32 million); and
  • aided client companies in growing their investment by 24% ($25 million).

Bill Tam, BCTIA president and CEO, said expansion has always been part of the plan for Centre4Growth.

“Our vision has always been to have Centre4Growth services accessible to tech entrepreneurs across Greater Vancouver and British Columbia,” he said.

According to the BCTIA, population growth in Maple Ridge and Surrey has led to the rapid increase in “innovative companies” in the area.

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts welcomed the arrival of Centre4Growth to her jurisdiction.

“Providing this type of relevant, practical support to entrepreneurs can bridge the gap between having a great idea and growing a profitable, job generating company,” she said.
