More options are in the pipeline for B.C. businesses concerned over securing their data in the event of a disaster.
Terago Inc. (TSX:TGO) announced February 13 it has acquired a 7,000-square-foot data centre in downtown Vancouver.
The Ontario-based company offers businesses data services, such as data centre co-location and carrier-grade broadband communications.
This allows companies to secure their data online without fear of losing it all on their computers in the event of a disaster.
But documents from Edward Snowden, the American whistle-blower who leaked data acquired by the National Security Agency, previously revealed the NSA was able to crack encryption codes passing through U.S. servers.
Although privacy laws are stronger in Canada, the security of data transmitted throughout Canada could still be at risk if it's routed through the U.S.
