Vancouver-based Calyx Bio-Ventures Inc. (TSX-V:CYX) has a renewable fuel product that is the most similar to petroleum-derived fuels compared with other renewable fuels, according to a Coordinating Research Council (CRC) study, Calyx announced this morning.

CRC is a non-profit organization that studies and promotes various alternative fuels through scientific research. Its recent report, Advanced Alternative and Renewable Diesel Fuels: Detailed Characterization of Physical and Chemical Properties, found that Calyx’s ReadiDiesel, which is made from energy feedstock, is more like petroleum-derived fuels than all the other renewable fuels studied.

“This further supports our efforts to become a leading non-food source of biofuels that can be utilized seamlessly in petroleum-fuel powered engines, whether they be in planes, ground transportation or other applications,” said Calyx CEO Hugh Notman.
