Vancouver’s Picatic, a crowd-funding platform for event ticketing and management, has introduced a way for event organizers to “pay what they want” for ticket fees, technology blog Techvibes reported this morning.

Picatic said that its FairPay platform goes against the industry standard of charging a pay-per-ticket service fee. It will allow organizers to choose what they want to pay in terms of these surcharges – after the event is completed. They are also free to pay nothing at all, with no obligation.

By doing this, Picatic said, event organizers have more control because if an event makes no money, the organizers aren’t on the hook for service fees.

“The world is tired of being nickled-and-dimed with service fees,” said Picatic CEO Jayesh Parmar. “Our aim is to partner with organizers to create successful events that the world will love to attend.

“By investing in organizers, we are completely confident that they will take care of us.”
