Vancouver's Avigilon Corp. (TSX:AVO), a video surveillance equipment and software company, announced this week that it has created what it says is the smallest HD dome camera in the world.
The HD Micro Dome is slightly larger than a golf ball and uses a smart cable that Avigilon said enables the product's diminutive size. Along with the cable, the total unit weighs 70 grams.
"Stores, hotels, office buildings and restaurants want discreet cameras that provide exceptional image detail," said Avigilon senior product manager Rick Ramsay. "Traditionally, you could get one or the other.
"Now with our HD Micro Dome, you get both."
A video showing surveillance using the HD Micro Dome can be seen here.
The camera will begin shipping in August, and will be available in both 1- and 2-megapixel options.
