Vancouver’s Absolute Software Corporation (TSX:ABT) has entered into a global partnership with Samsung Electronics, Absolute announced this morning.
The global electronics giant will embed Absolute’s persistence security technology into the firmware of its Galaxy mobile devices – including the future Galaxy S4 smartphone – as part of Samsung KNOX, a mobile security platform being released later this year.
“As we expand our position in the enterprise market, our customers are demanding enterprise-level security solutions,” said Injong Rhee, senior vice-president of Samsung’s technology strategy group.
“Absolute’s firmware-persistence technology and managed theft protection services are a feature of Samsung KNOX for our enhanced security software and services strategy for the enterprise market.”
The technology will allow Samsung users to secure their devices remotely from a single cloud-based console.
Absolute chairman and CEO John Livingston said, “With Samsung, the leading provider of smartphones and Android tablets, we are extending Absolute’s patented persistence technology across the full spectrum of smart connected mobile devices.”
As of press time, Absolute’s shares were trading at $6.37, an increase of 16.03%.
