MacProVideo.com, a Vancouver company that makes video tutorials for Apple (Nasdaq:APPL), Adobe (Nasdaq:ADBE) and Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) products has acquired AskVideo.com, a Toronto company involved in a related field.
The deal includes AskVideo.com's full catalogue, brand and other operational assets. MacProVideo.com did not disclose how much the acquisition cost.
MacProVideo.com was founded in Vancouver in 2005 and initially focused on video tutorials for Apple software such as Logic, Final Cut Pro, iMovie and GarageBand.
It later added other software applications, including Adobe's Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
AskVideo.com, founded in Toronto in 2004, focused primarily on video tutorials for audio software, like Pro Tools – used widely in recording studios – and Cubase, also used in studios for arranging and editing music.
"It's a little-known fact that two of the Internet's pioneering producers of online education are actually Canadian companies," said macProVideo.com CEO Martin Sitter.
"By combining both companies, we're looking to consolidate the Canadian online educating industry and bring our trademarked NonLinear Educating System to the larger world of Windows PC users."
The NonLinear Educating System features HD tutorial-videos that play in web browsers, on desktops, and on iOS (Apple) devices.
