Wind Mobile has joined the Canadian wireless rules and spectrum limitations conversation, calling the Big Three's recent campaigns an "all-you-can-eat buffet of misinformation."

In a post on windmobileblog.com entitled Time to Separate Myth from Reality, Wind CEO Anthony Lacavera commends Industry Minister James Moore and Prime Minister Stephen Harper for not being swayed by the "ridiculous" arguments being put forth by Telus, Bell and Rogers.

Lacavera responded to claims that allowing Verizon to enter the market in the upcoming wireless spectrum auction would block Canadian firms from bidding on 50% of available airspace, saying this argument assumes that the Big Three are the only Canadian firms.

He also attacks the argument that small towns and rural areas will be left behind in terms of service because Verizon would likely focus on larger centres. He said Telus, Bell and Rogers did the same thing when they launched their wireless services, and that they still do this when introducing new products.

"As the bombardment of advertisements from the Big Three continues, it's important to recognize the noise for what it is: a desperate stand by the Big Three to protect their cozy and highly profitable wireless market oligopoly," Lacavera wrote.

"No matter how loudly they protest, the reality is the government's spirited pursuit of a more competitive market is in the best interest of all Canadians."
