Flair Airlines Ltd. is getting some new leadership to navigate the company through the increasingly competitive budget carrier market.
Jim Scott, a former airline pilot and the founder of discount carrier Canada Jetlines Ltd. (TSX-V: JET), is assuming the CEO job at the Kelowna-based carrier, Flair announced January 16.
He takes over from Flair Airlines founder and former president Jim Rogers, who has sold his shares in the company but will remain on its advisory council until 2019.
Meanwhile, the company has appointed Jerry Presley as its executive chairman to represent the majority stakeholder investment group.
The management shakeup comes after Flair Airlines spent an undisclosed sum to acquire NewLeaf Travel Co. in June 2017.
NewLeaf was a discount flight-seller and had been partnered with Flair Airlines since NewLeaf launched in July 2016.
NewLeaf would sell discount tickets and Flair Airlines would in turn fly the flights.
Scott left Canada Jetlines the same month as Flair Airlines acquired NewLeaf
