Women entrepreneurs and business leaders in B.C. have a new career and networking tool, with the launch of a WEB Alliance website.

The new portal showcases the many networks for B.C. businesswomen, including Business in Vancouver's own annual Influential Women in Business Awards.

The WEB Alliance calls itself the "collective voice" for B.C.'s 10,000 women in business.

"Organizations supporting professional as well as entrepreneurial women have been collaborating since 2009, when Jill Earthy, then CEO of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs, and Laurel Douglas, CEO of the Women's Enterprise Centre, brought together representatives from over 25 different women's business networks to share ideas and discuss ways to collaborate," a WEB Alliance press release states.

"Since that time, representatives have been meeting quarterly to share ideas and best practices for supporting women in business."

The new WEB Alliance portal is intended to connect women to organizations that can help them in their careers and businesses.

The website lists 19 B.C. networks for women entrepreneurs and 20 networks for businesswomen, in areas such as technology, law and finance.
